I would like to announce a support/outreach group for Transgendered people and their families. This group is under the umbrella of OrangePride. WHEN: The last Friday of each month. WHERE: Grace Episcopal Church 58 North Street Middletown, NY 10940 TIME: 7:30pm to 9:30pm Group Moderator: Kathleen OBrien MSW Contact Number: 845-342-4555 The transgendered community is considered to be transsexuals MTF and FTM, cross dressers, intersexed individuals, and those who want to express their gender in a manner of their own choosing. This group will welcome transgendered individuals and their families (18 and up). Spouses are encouraged to attend the group as the presence of a transgendered individual in a family can be traumatic. However this is NOT a therapy group. <><><> This group is a SUPPORT group. The spouses or significant others of any group members are encouraged to attend. They will be openly welcomed as they may need support OR may provide support to others who are in the group or need support. Individuals in the group will be encouraged to bring topics of concern to the group. --- This group is NOT a dating group. However, members of the group are encouraged to network with each other. We are here for each other since we are human and will want to go out to social events. The group may want to organize outings, movie nights, etc. as a group. Part of these evenings out will be to provide support to those individuals who may not feel comfortable going out alone. --- This group will work together to show the community that we are normal, integrated, and concerned people who care about each other and our community. --- This group is an OUTREACH group. Members of the group will be encouraged to support the group in its outreach functions to the community. As a part of being an outreach group this group will have as one of its purposes to provide wigs for those women who have had chemotherapy. It will provide breast forms for those women who have had mastectomies. This group will be encouraged to provide public education on transgendered issues.
